Kartemquin is 45 in 2011!
2011 marks Kartemquin's 45th year of producing documentaries that examine and critique society through the stories of real people, making Kartemquin one of the longest running media arts organizations in the world.
Through the last 45 years, Kartemquin has evolved into a multifaceted organization with a variety of programs that support the growing Midwest media arts community. Kartemquin strives to provide a variety of networking and mentoring opportunities for both emerging and experienced filmmakers. Throughout this 45th year we will present a series of local screenings and special events, including collaborations with a number of nonprofits, film festivals and broadcast channels, culminating in a large Chicago event this fall.
Please consider supporting this legacy through a donation. Or if you would like to partner with Kartemquin on an event or host a retrospective 45th anniversary screening, please email info@kartemquin.com.
You can help.
You will be making films, making filmmakers, and making a difference.
When you make a contribution to Kartemquin, you enable us to continue telling the stories of the people whose lives are most directly affected by social and political change and who are often overlooked or misrepresented by the media. Thanks to your crucial support, for over 50 years our films have helped to provoke essential dialogue, both in communities and between the general public and policymakers.
With a noted tradition of nurturing emerging talent and acting as a leading voice for independent media, Kartemquin is building on more than 50 years of history as Chicago’s documentary powerhouse.
Kartemquin is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization. Guidestar
