At the upcoming ABA 2009 Annual Meeting, the Special Committee on Bioethics and the Law will sponsor the CLE Program Is it in My Family? One Woman's Journey through Genetic Testing. The session, which impacts a broad range of legal topics, includingfamily law, health law, intellectual property, individual rights andresponsibilities, insurance law, science and technology, and bioethicsand the law, will examine the pros and cons of predictive genetictesting and the effects on individuals and their families. The July 31st program will feature clips from In the Family and a panel discussion with filmmaker Joanna Rudnick.  The film will also screen in its entirety as a part of the ABA Annual meeting on August 2nd. In the Family is a finalist

Congratulations to In the Family and Director Joanna Rudnick. The film has been chosen as one of the ten finalists for the National Institute for Health Care Managment Foundation’s Second Annual Health Care Television and Radio Journalism Award. The finalists will be recognized at the combined Journalism and Research Awards Dinner on June 15, 2009 in Washington, D.C., where the winner will be presented with an award and $10,000 prize. In the Family screenings continue

On March 24, In the Family screened to an audience of over 75 people at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Md.  Filmmaker Joanna Rudnick was honored to speak on a panel with NIH experts following the film. The event was hosted by the National Human Genome Research Institute's Education and Community Involvement Branch and the National Cancer Institute's Office of Advocacy and Relations. In the Family will also screen in Heesch, Netherlands on April 18 as part of a national conference on breast and ovarian cancer.
