DePaul University hosts two days of "Verité" events: Unbroken Glass panels; Master Classes with Leslie Simmer and Gordon Quinn

Documentary filmmakers will gather at the School of Cinematic Arts at DePaul University for “Verité,” two days of events that offer an in-depth look at the filmmaking process. The events will feature three filmmakers from Kartemquin: Dinesh Sabu, director of Unbroken Glass; Gordon Quinn, co-founder and Artistic Director of Kartemquin and Emmy Award-winning editor Leslie Simmer. Events will be held Oct. 28-29 in DePaul’s Daley Building, 247 S. State St. Admission is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. Kartemquin Films Nominated for Three 2016 Emmy Awards

Congratulations are in order to the Kartemquin Films family! Today, the nominees for the 37th annual News & Documentary Emmy® awards were announced, and two Kartemquin Films, Life Itself and The Homestrech, are in contention. Life Itself was nominated twice – for Best Documentary (Director Steve James, Producers Zak Piper and Garrett Basch, Executive Producers Kat White, Mark Mitten, Michael Ferro, Justine Nagan, Gordon Quinn, Steve Zallian and Martin Scorsese, aired on CNN Films) and for Outstanding Editing: Documentary And Long Form (Editors Steve James and David E. Retrospectives in New York and Los Angeles to Highlight Five Decades of Documentaries Nearly 1,000 Party Attendees Include CEO of PBS, Stars of Films and Directors from the Past 50 Years of Kartemquin, Elected Officials Not-for-profit documentary production collective Kartemquin Films, the Chicago-based producers of The Interrupters, and The Trials of Muhammad Ali, marks the occasion of its 50th Birthday Party tonight to announce major retrospectives in New York and Los Angeles this summer, a new fund to support filmmakers, and a showcase for emerging midwest independent documentary makers this fall. Kartemquin opens up archives for historic exhibition

Ahead of our 50th anniversary celebration on June 24th at the Harris Theater Rooftop, we open our archives to the Chicago public with the exhibition “Kartemquin Films 1966-2016: Democracy through Documentary” opening on May 21st and running through August 20th at Expo 72 (72 E. WTTW celebrates 50th Anniversary of Kartemquin Films with monthly broadcasts through 2016

WTTW, Chicago's premier public television station, will broadcast a year-long series of Kartemquin's award-winning films in honor of our 50th anniversary. The monthly series will feature films from each decade of Kartemquin’s history, including the classic Hoop Dreams (1994), which will air in June 2016, to coincide with a Kartemquin “Milestones” gala celebration at the Chicago Cultural Center and Harris Theater on June 24, and an art exhibition running May-August at Expo 72. CNEX to host Asia premiere of The Homestretch
