The Interrupters' Philly win

We only just found out about yet another award win for The Interrupters. The film - already a Jury Prize winner at both the Miami and Full Frame Festivals, as well being the recipient of the True Life Fund from True/False - also picked up the Audience Award for Best Documentary from Philadelphia Cinefest last week. Interrupters European premiere announced for Sheffield Doc/Fest

The Interrupters will have its European Premiere at the 2011 Sheffield Doc/Fest between June 8-12. Director Steve James will be attending and will also give a masterclass at the festival, which is the UK's most presitigious documentary film event. 30 seconds to change a life

Steve James will be in Dallas today and tomorrow for the Dallas International Film Festival, where he will attend two screenings of The Interrupters and also be the first documentary filmmaker to collect the Dallas Star Award. Excitingly, these screenings will also see the premiere of the film's new 144min theatrical cut. The new version of Steve James and Alex Kotlowitz's film also screens in Philadelphia at Philly Cinefest this Sunday, and from now on. Continued

"Leaner and meaner" Interrupters premieres in Dallas

The Interrupters continued its impressive festival run Saturday with another sold out screening at the Cleveland Film Festival. Interrupters Cobe Williams and Rodney “Hot Rod” Phillips did a road trip with Co-producer Zak Piper, where they joined Producer Alex Kotlowitz on stage after the screening to answer questions following another standing ovation. Cobe reports that one viewer saw the movie twice in Cleveland. He brought his wife back the second time! Zak Piper also reports that while in Cleveland the crew bumped into Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen, who later gave an endorsement of the film and Ceasefire on his twitter feed. Continued

The Interrupters: coming soon to a theater near you

Kartemquin is delighted to announce that Cinema Guild will be distributing The Interrupters in theaters across the US this Summer. The announcement comes on the back of the film's acclaimed run at major film festivals this spring, during which it has picked up the Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary at the Miami Film Festival.
