WTTW to air 10 Kartemquin films for our 45th anniversary!

WTTW, Chicago's premier public television station, will broadcast a year-long series of Kartemquin's award-winning documentaries as part of our 45th anniversary celebration. The series will include the television premieres of three films: PRISONER OF HER PAST, about late-onset PTSD; THE iNTERRUPTERS, about former Chicago gang members who now stop violence; and the “American Masters” premiere of A GOOD MAN, a profile of the controversial Kennedy-award-winning choreographer Bill T. Jones as he creates a new performance on Abraham Lincoln for the Ravinia Festival. Continued

Typeface to air on Swedish Television

Typeface will soon have a Swedish television premiere to add to its illustrious run of screenings. Kartemquin has sold the broadcast rights to the film to Sveriges Television (SVT), the nation's largest broadcast network, in a deal brokered by Cinetic Rights Management/Film Buff. Kartemquin week in Chicago!

Our films American Arab, A Good Man, Prisoner of Her Past and Typeface are all getting a chance to shine in our hometown of Chicago this week. Usama Alshaibi will present clips from American Arab at a panel discussion at Columbia College Chicago from 7pm-9pm tonight. Panelists inlcude Marquette University sociologist Louise Cainkar, author of Homeland Insecurity: The Arab-American and Muslim Experience After 9/11; and Roosevelt University professor David Faris, who studies social and political change in the Middle East.
