Kartemquin Associate's work featured in Chicago film showcase

An early film from long-time Kartemquin associate, Peter Kuttner, will be screened as a part of the Chicago Film Archives' upcoming show entitled, "Chicago My Town: Portraits From the Margins," on September 20th and 21st. Kuttner's film, Cause Without a Rebel, was created in 1964 to inspire Northwestern students to get involved in the growing civil rights movement. The event begins at 7pm at the LaSalle Bank Cinema.

Terra Incognita hits the festivals this fall

Kartemquin is excited to announce that Mapping Stem Cell Research: Terra Incognita will be a part of this year's prestigious IDFA festival in Amsterdam this November. Also, the film will have its world premiere at DOCNZ in New Zealand in September, play the Chicago International Film Festival in October, and screen at the Denver International Film Festival in November. More festivals to come!

Kartemquin and Chicago History

Mark your calendars for some exciting screenings this fall at the Chicago History Museum as a part of their new "Project Sunday" documentary film series. Kicking off this Chicago-themed series, is "And This is Free," on September 16th. The film is an important chronicle of Maxwell Street and the music that thrived there, by Mike Shea. Kartemquin's Gordon Quinn worked on the film. Then, on December 9th, please join us for a screening of the Kartemquin classic, The Chicago Maternity Center Story. All screenings are on Sunday afternoons and begin at 1:30pm.

Home for Life- unveiled!

Kartemquin is thrilled to announce that the restored Home for Life print will have a premiere screening at the Gene Siskel Film Center on Saturday, November 10th at 8:00pm. Home for Life, Kartemquin's first film, has been out of circulation for years and is in the process of an extensive preservation thanks to a generous grant from the National Film Preservation Foundation. The event is featured in the Chicago Tribune film calendar.

Kartemquin on Producer's Panel

Kartemquin's Director of Communications and Distribution, Justine Nagan, participated on a panel entitled, "Getting Your Film on Television" as part of the Midwest Independent Film Festival, at Landmark Cinema last night. She joined Street Thief Director Malik Bader, WTTW's Annie Potter, and Current TV's Erik Nordby, to address the sold-out crowd prior to a screening of Bader's film.
