Playboy Foundation funding for American Arab

The Playboy Foundation has awarded the Kartemquin documentary American Arab a $5,000 grant for production funds. The in-progress film, about the experience of director Usama Alshaibi and other Arabs inside the United States after 9/11, is one of only 5 films to have been awarded a grant in 2010 through the foundation's Social Change Documentary Film Grants.
Kartemquin's 2008 film In the Family and Alshaibi's previous film Nice Bombs both received funding from the Playboy Foundation in 2007 through the program, which has supported numerous award-winning documentaries since 1977.
American Arab will continue production throughout the fall of 2010, and the production team are also currently planning a public demo screening with a panel discussion for Arab Heritage Month in November.
