Many of James’ exceptional films, dealing with a range of issues, will be screened from Saturday, May 4 – Thursday, May 16, 2013 at the Ruth Sokolof Theatre at 1340 Mike Fahey St. in Omaha, NE.
The series kicks off with Steve James’ and Kartemquin Films’ award winning documentary Hoop Dreams, noted by Roger Ebert as "one of the great moviegoing experiences of my lifetime."
James will be joining Film Streams for two of the screenings, participating in a Q&A after a special screening of his and Kartemquin’s award winning film The Interrupters, about violence prevention in Chicago, and also in a discussion following the screening of his personal pick: Jean Renoir’s 1939 masterpiece The Rules of the Game.
Steve James is currently working on Life Itself, about the life of Roger Ebert.
With a noted tradition of nurturing emerging talent and acting as a leading voice for independent media, Kartemquin is building on more than 50 years of history as Chicago’s documentary powerhouse.
Kartemquin is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization. Guidestar
