On Monday June 8 at 4pm, Influence Film Club at the Crucible will host an additional q&a, with Dan Rybicky and Aaron Wickenden showing clips from the film. Check out Influence Film Club's excellent Almost There Discussion Guide.
The directors will then head south for a special London screening at the new Bertha DocHouse on Wednesday June 10 at 8:30pm.
Prior to the DocHouse screening, Londoners can attend an editing masterclass hosted by Aaron Wickenden, who they describe as "one of the most exciting editors working in documentary today." We're honored to have Aaron, one of our former interns and a long-time Kartemquin associate whose critically acclaimed work includes the Oscar nominated film Finding Vivian Maier, Kartemquin's The Interrupters and The Trials of Muhammad Ali, and this year's Sundance hit Best of Enemies, be recognized in this way, giving the first ever masterclass at London's first ever documentary-only screen!
If you're attending Sheffield Doc/Fest, or live in London, don't miss these chances to see one of our finest new films. Also say hello to Tim Horsburgh, Kartemquin's Director of Communications and Distribution, who will be attending as part of Sheffield's Meet Market, and discussing Kartemquin's in-progress films.
A Jury Award Finalist at Sebastopol Documentary Film Festival in April, Almost There will return there on June 27th at 7pm as part of Sebastopol's "Best of the Fest" screenings, and later this month it will screen twice at Nantucket Film Festival.
With a noted tradition of nurturing emerging talent and acting as a leading voice for independent media, Kartemquin is building on more than 50 years of history as Chicago’s documentary powerhouse.
Kartemquin is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization. Guidestar
