Ahead of the opening, check out a review from John DeFore The Hollywood Reporter praising the film as “nuanced and sensitive” and celebrating the twists and layers of its “complex narrative.” In The New York Times, Glenn Kenny wrestled with the ethical quandaries of this "both arresting and queasy-making...well-put-together movie." David D'Arcy of Art Info describes the film as "a Midwestern Grey Gardens...Rybicky & Wickenden blend the sublimely weird with the rot of decades. It is art, seasoned for better or worse, with humanity."
The film's Co-directors Dan Rybicky and Aaron Wickenden will be on site for Q&As after each screening in New York this weekend, moderated by influential names within the arts & mental health industry. A full list of moderators can be found below.
On the eve of its theatrical release, Almost There was handed another festival award. This past Tuesday, December 1, Almost There and Editor Aaron Wickenden received the award for Best Editing at the Midwest Independent Film Festival “Best of the Midwest Awards.”
