The film follows three homeless teenagers as they brave the Chicago winters, the pressures of high school, and life on the streets to build a brighter future. It world premiered at 2014 Hot Docs, and had its US premiere at 2014 AFI Docs, before launching into a theatrical release and a broadcast on PBS Independent Lens in April 2015. A recent close-to-home impact achievement for the film came in the form of a $14,000 donation from Oceana Women Who Care to support the homeless youth services of Oceana Home Partnership. This gift was a direct result of a screening of the film in May 2015, attended by Kirsten Kelly, who was raised in the town. On a national level, the film is also gearing up for several regional roundtables that will bring together key government agencies that provide services for those experiencing homelessness for discussion following screenings of the film, in a plan supported by the Fledgling Fund.
