Justine, who has led Kartemquin for five years as ED, originally joined the organization as a volunteer/intern in 2003, after being inspired by seeing our films Stevie and Refrigerator Mothers. Under her guidance we have greatly strengthened our programs for filmmakers, fundraising and marketing, without compromising our production of quality documentaries (in fact, we've greatly increased that, too). Yet, Justine states that "the one characteristic every leader should possess is a sense of humility."
Learn more about Justine Nagan on the Crain's Chicago site, with comments from Kartemquin's artistic director Gordon Quinn, director/producer Steve James, and Elspeth Revere of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.
With a noted tradition of nurturing emerging talent and acting as a leading voice for independent media, Kartemquin is building on more than 50 years of history as Chicago’s documentary powerhouse.
Kartemquin is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization. Guidestar
