Kartemquin Films is happy to announce its presence at the Lake FX Summit + Expo, running April 16 -19, 2015. Lake FX, organized by DCASE (the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events) and presented by Google, is the region’s largest free conference for artists, creative professionals and entrepreneurs. Thousands of individuals, businesses and organizations are expected to come for keynotes by industry leaders, professional development panels and workshops, networking opportunities, music and film showcases, the Expo resource fair and a marketplace featuring local artisans.
Throughout Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18, from 10am-4pm, Kartemquin will have a booth and be presenting at the Chicago Cultural Center for the Lake FX Expo where visitors can come to find out more about our programs and work opportunities.
Our representatives will also be present in several of the Film Track panel discussions hosted by the Gene Siskel Film Center. On Friday, April 17th Kartemquin Director of Programs and Engagement, Beckie Stocchetti, will moderate the "Impact Strategies for Filmmakers" panel, sparking discussion among social issue producers who try to engage audiences through advocating policy, raising awareness and inspiring change. During that same day, Executive Director of Kartemquin, Justine Nagan, will take part in: "Making The Pitch: Good Pitch Chicago," and Kartemquin's Director of Finance and Operations, Suzanne Niemoth, will speak on “Fiscal Sponsorship for Filmmakers.”
On Saturday, April 18th, the 7th Chicago International Movies & Music Festival (CIMMfest) and Lake FX will host a free screening of Almost There at the Logan Theatre followed by a Q&A with filmmakers Dan Rybicky and Aaron Wickenden.
And last but not least, on Sunday, April 19th, Kartemquin founder and artistic director Gordon Quinn will participate in the final Lake FX program: "To Be, To Build, To Leave Behind: A Brunch-time Conversation on Chicago’s Master Makers and the Legacies they are Leaving Behind".
