Oscar Shortlist, CNN air date and National Board of Review Award for Life Itself

Life Itself has been named on the Academy Awards shortlist for Best Documentary Feature.

Today CNN also announced that January 4th, 9pm ET will see the broadcast television premiere of the film, which depicts the life and last days of Pulitzer Prize winning film critic Roger Ebert.

Life Itself was also honored today as Best Documentary of the year by the National Board of Review, and was yesterday nominated for Best Documentary of the year by the Producers Guild of America.

We are very honored to receive these accolades and especially to have Steve James' film in the running for an Oscar nomination! The five nominations will be announced on January 15th, 2015. See the full list of shortlisted documentaries here. We offer our congratulations to all of the filmmakers who got this honor today, but especially to Kartemquin associate Aaron Wickenden, editor of shortlisted film Finding Vivian Maier.

A great news day for fans of Roger Ebert, documentaries, and KTQ!
