Raising Bertie plays to sold-out crowd at PIFF XL; heads to Big Sky!

Award-winning Raising Bertie has continued its packed festival run in the past week, playing at the Portland International Film Festival on February 21 and 22, having its Tennessee premiere at the Indie Memphis Film Series on February 22 and heading to the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival this Friday!

Director Margaret Byrne was in attendance for the screenings in Portland, including a screening for 300 students.

In more news for #TeamBertie, renovations are underway at The Hive House! With the help of NC Community Development Initiative, The Hive House received $149,250 in funding from the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust to renovate the community center in Bertie County featured in Raising Bertie, and run by Vivian Saunders. The Hive is hoping to have all renovations completed by this Spring. Read more about the renovations here.

Coming up, Raising Bertie will screen at the University of Illinois Chicago Alumni Learning Series and International Night on Thursday, March 2 . Both Director Margaret Byrne and Director of Photography Jon Stuyvesant are alumni of UIC; as well as at the Oneota Film Festival on Sunday, March 12––in anticipation for the film's upcoming theatrical release.
