Suzanne Niemoth

Vice President of Finance & Operations

Suzanne, the Vice President of Finance & Operations at Kartemquin, is a non-profit finance, operations and accounting expert dedicated to building stronger non-profit organizations through better fiscal management and organizational efficiency. Suzanne has a decade of professional experience focused on strengthening the internal capacity of charitable organizations. She believes that navigating the financial challenges unique to non-profits requires a high level of financial accountability, transparency, and integrity. In her role at Kartemquin, Suzanne is responsible for all aspects of the organization’s financial management, general operations, human resources, compliance, information technology, legal affairs and risk management.

Prior to joining Kartemquin in 2013, Suzanne served as Associate Director of Chapter Accounting for the Alzheimer's Association, where she lead revenue-sharing reporting, Form 990 tax returns, and analyses of monthly, quarterly and annual financial information for the organization's 70+ affiliate chapters. From 2009 to 2011, Suzanne was Senior Accountant at SGA Youth & Family Services, where she sat on the Executive Committee and chaired the Program Evaluation Committee. Her background also includes three years at a Chicago Loop-based marketing firm.

Suzanne holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Northwestern University as well as a Master of Non-Profit Administration from the University of Notre Dame and a Master of Science in Accountancy from DePaul University. She is a member of the Illinois CPA Society as well as the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, which named her a 2011 AICPA scholar for her achievements at DePaul. In 2015, Suzanne was named to the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Chicago’s Leadership Institute, where emerging leaders in the philanthropic and non-profit sectors join a community of practice with like-minded peers. Suzanne is a certified non-profit accounting professional (CNAP) and is currently pursuing her Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensure.

Suzanne’s dedication to the non-profit sector extends beyond her work with Kartemquin. She is a longtime adoption center and outreach engagement volunteer for Tree House Humane Society, a local no-kill animal rescue organization. Since 2010, she has been a key player in the shelter’s Animal-Assisted Therapy program, taking “furry friends” for bi-monthly visits with residents at The Grove at Lincoln Park nursing home. Suzanne has also volunteered with Girls Rock! Chicago, an organization dedicated to fostering young girls’ creative expression, positive self-esteem, and community awareness through the power of music. There, she served as a camp counselor and provided extensive pro bono accounting expertise.

When she isn’t immersed in spreadsheets or wrangling therapy kittens, Suzanne, an avid runner, is currently training for a marathon to help raise funds and awareness for one of her favorite animal welfare charities. In rare moments of stillness, Suzanne enjoys creating handmade cards, collecting vintage jewelry and listening to music the way it was meant to be enjoyed––on vinyl.
