Short films have always been an integral part of Kartemquin's history, from Parents to Chicago Crossings. To explore the feasibility of creating a new shorts initiative to complement our regular long-form works, we recently filmed the 9 minute Sacred Transformations, directed by Justine Nagan and edited by Leslie Simmer. The film - shot in a single night inside on the South Side of Chicago - follows Eric Dean Spruth as he helps people to transform tattoos that no longer represent who they are into new works of art.
We are delighted to announce that Sacred Transformations has already been accepted into the "Fear No Film" program at the 2010 Utah Arts Festival. We will be announcing more ways to see the film soon. Stay tuned!
