Margaret Byrne's award-winning Kartemquin film Raising Bertie will finally screen in our hometown at the 2016 Chicago International Film Festival on Sunday October 23rd, 2016.
Announced today as a special presentation in the out-of-competition documentaries of the 52nd Chicago International Festival, Raising Bertie screens tomorrow in its Los Angeles premiere at the Billy Wilder Theater as the opening night of a 50th Anniversary retrospective of Kartemquin Films co-presented by UCLA Film & Television Archive and the International Documentary Association. Margaret Byrne and producer Ian Kibbe will attend.
Byrne and Kibbe were this week profiled by Chicago Magazine, with Raising Bertie selected as one of 12 Things Not To Miss in the the October edition's Fall Culture Guide.
Raising Bertie will be screened at the Downtown LA Film Festival on September 24, 2016 at 5:00PM at Regal Cinemas L.A. LIVE Downton – Theater 11. Director Margaret Byrne and Director of Photography/Producer Jon Stuyvesant will appear in person.
We're also delegated to have the previously announced Abacus: Small Enough to Jail playing as an official selection of the Chicago Film Festival, fresh from its successful world premiere at Toronto International Film Festival.
The 52nd Chicago International Film Festival is October 13-27. Passes are on sale now at www.chicagofilmfestival.com; tickets go on sale Wednesday, September 21 for Cinema/Chicago members and September 23 for the general public.
